Introduction

SITRA stands for South India Textile Research Association, established in 1956 is governed by a council administration consisting of a member representative of the industry, government, and scientists. It sponsored by the ministry of textile of the government of India. It is governed by a council of administration composed of twenty-five members, including representatives from reputed institutions from industry, central and state governments, and scientists.

Testing material quality at various processing stages from fiber to fabric and assessing processing efficiency by applying physical, chemical and processing tests are an integral part of SITRA's services to its members. SITRA has set expectations for all the essential quality characters on the basis of analysis, consultancy work, and inter-mill comparison studies. Testing services help the mills evaluate the output, select the appropriate output raw material, and evaluate the process competency. A comparison of the mill test results with the SITRA test results will also enable mills with their own test laboratory to verify the accuracy of their test results. In addition, the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), New Delhi, has accredited SITRA physical and chemical laboratories for compliance with ISO / IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation guidelines.

APPLICABILITY OF SITRA CERTIFICATION
